Low Water at Porthcarrow

Mara Quiller has chased the vanished parish of Porthcarrow for a year. Then a wax cylinder labelled 'the bells, low water' plays nine descending bells and a crowd singing — and by morning listeners are sending her photographs of its crooked spire, all taken in the last three days.
