Lyrics
[Intro] Pack the thermos, check the map Leave the last town in our tracks [Verse 1] Mara ties her boots beside the trailhead sign Jules has orange slices, i’ve got the flashlight shine The pines close in around us, cool air on our cheeks We trade the day’s old stories as the gravel shifts beneath [Pre-Chorus] Then the trees give way And the whole sky opens wide You point out the moon We all stop there, side by side [Chorus] Out past midnight, climbing higher Laughing as the ridgeline catches fire Every mile, every hand we lend Makes this wild night ours, my friends Under all that open sky We feel so small, we feel alive When the morning finds the trail again I’ll still be walking with my friends [Verse 2] A little creek runs silver through the roots and stone We pass the water bottle, nobody hikes alone Kai spots three bright planets; we argue what they are Then burst out laughing, sprawled beneath the dark [Pre-Chorus] The cold slips through our sleeves But nobody wants to turn The summit’s just ahead And the night has more to show [Chorus] Out past midnight, climbing higher Laughing as the ridgeline catches fire Every mile, every hand we lend Makes this wild night ours, my friends Under all that open sky We feel so small, we feel alive When the morning finds the trail again I’ll still be walking with my friends [Bridge] At the summit, quiet settles in A shared flask, a grin passed hand to hand No grand plan, no need to say We found our place up here tonight [Final chorus] Out past midnight, climbing higher Laughing as the ridgeline catches fire Every mile, every hand we lend Makes this wild night ours, my friends Under all that open sky We feel so small, we feel alive When the morning finds the trail again I’ll still be walking with my friends [Outro] Boots on the path, dawn in the pines Same old crew, one more sunrise
